In the DESSERT project, Tekniker will focus on developing new ad hoc test protocols to study hydrogen embrittlement and seizure deterioration of threaded connections on a laboratory scale. Additionally, Tekniker will help define the optimal lubrication solution for your designed rope.

TUC Clausthal University of Technology

The Clausthal University of Technology is one of the top German universities in engineering by the CHE University Rankings.

TU Clausthal is recognized for its leading research capabilities and strong global connections, evidenced by its substantial third-party funding and numerous successful partnerships with universities, research institutions, and businesses locally, nationally, and internationally.

The university’s research, teaching, and technology transfer efforts focus on addressing the major societal challenges of ensuring a sustainable resource supply and transforming the energy system in response to climate change. Central to this mission is the pursuit of a circular economy, emphasizing resource efficiency and regenerative practices. By integrating these principles, TU Clausthal is committed to supporting the establishment of a sustainable society in the face of climate change and digitalization.

TU Clausthal will play a crucial role in the DESSERT project. Being WP2 and WP5 leader,  it will focus on proving the mechanical integrity and gas tightness of the string through a comprehensive full-scale testing setup. This will involve developing and implementing an ad-hoc test procedure that accounts for all mechanical and thermal induced loads in the presence of hydrogen. Additionally, TU Clausthal will be responsible for delivering a draft code that outlines the new test procedure.
